Using a Fuji X-Pro 2 in 2022

Introduction

The Fuji X-Pro 2 is a rangefinder-style camera that came to the market in 2016. It has an electronic and optical viewfinder and has the Fujifilm X-Trans III sensor – an APS-C sensor with 24.3 megapixels (more than I would ever need).

The optical finder is perfect – so is the electronic one.

Despite being six years old, the Fuji X-Pro 2’s electronic viewfinder is fast and accurate. I like using the optical viewfinder, though. I have been using DSLRs for years, and experiencing ‘reality’ in the viewfinder is a plus. I have to say, though, that I had to get used to it since all you get is a frame reflecting the focal length of your lens.

Of course, when using the EVF, you can access all kinds of data—metering, focus points, exposure information, and histograms.

I have used a second-hand Fuji X-Pro 2 with a 23mm f/2 lens for about two months, and it works well for me.

I have used a second-hand Fuji X-Pro 2 with a 23mm f/2 lens for about two months, and it works well for me. I like that the X-Pro 2 feels like a solid camera in your hands. It feels like a high-quality product, although I have to admit that it is not as solid as my Nikon D750 (which I have sold now). The grip on the Fuji X-Pro 2 is perfect. I have used it for many hours without getting tired. I am never afraid that the camera could slip out of my hands (unlike the X100V or the camera with the worst grip of all: the Fuxi X-E4).

I like the small size and the ability to change lenses; it has a sound autofocus system (although it can be slow when moving subjects); the electronic viewfinder is fast and accurate.

Although it is a niche camera, I think it’s in some ways ahead of its time and will remain relevant for many years to come.

The Fuji X-Pro 2 is a small, lightweight camera that’s easy to carry. It has a good viewfinder and image quality. The sensor is excellent for shooting landscapes or portraits in low-light conditions. The lens on this camera is also very good, with significant bokeh effects.

The battery life is also decent; you’ll be able to get about 300 shots before recharging (though I would recommend carrying an extra one, just in case).

Even an old camera like this can take great photos when you know how it works.

Despite its age, the Fuji X-Pro 2 is (still) a fantastic camera in 2022. I am sure it will continue to be a popular Fuji camera in the following years. The build quality is excellent. You can tell why it has ‘Pro’ in its name.

Conclusion

I have been using a Fuji X-Pro 2 for about two months, which works perfectly for me. It was a great purchase, and I am very happy with it.
